Additional Property Attributes

The Cloudy Day patented mining claim is one of town claims that together comprise the Upper Thistledown Mine property. Both claims are owned by Ouray County, as result of involuntary acquisition due to tax default. The property is above a cliff band, remote and difficult for the public to access without crossing private property. The Pine consists of two adits, a composite waste rock dump of approximately 930 cubic yards of subgrade ore and development rock. Results of leach testing indicate that arsenic, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, selenium, and zinc have a slight potential to leach from the waste dump material. The Cloudy Dat also contains remains of a cabin and an outhouse.

Former Use: Developed as mine circa 1900, peak production 1910. Involuntary acquisition by Ouray County by tax default for unpaid taxes.
