Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: In 1985, a fire occurred at the Imperial Anchor Pallet Company. Fire crews were called out to the site, and noticed over 300 fifty-five-gallon drums of suspicious materials. Once the fire was out, the City Fire Department began investigating the waste materials. The Department of Heath Services became involved in the investigation, and on April 26, 1895, they sent a letter to the owner indicating that testing had been completed and that there is contamination in the soils and the drums. DHS then required that the owner submit a plan for remediation and cleanup. It is believed that the owner removed contamination on the surface of the site. It appears that the owner divided the contaminated parcels from the adjoining parcel APN 191-350-009 (5-acres) and sold that parcel in 1993 to a hay storage company. The owner had abandoned the subject parcels, and they became tax-defaulted in 1986. Per correspondence from the Owners attorney dated May 6, 2003, the Imperial Anchor Pallet went out of business in 1993, and the principal of the corporation passed away in 1998. The Agency became the owner of the site in 2006, and began planning for the cleanup of the site. The site is currently vacant.
