Additional Property Attributes

Commercial uses at the property ceased in the 1990's and the property was abandoned. The highly visible location along Main Street is desirable for redevelopment but unknown environmental conditions hampered property reuse. As a result of the Phase I and II ESAs, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation secured funding for site remediation. The property has been remediated and will be marketed for redevelopment.

Former Use: The property and immediate surrounding area consists of residential and commercial properties. The site was vacant until the late 1920's when it was developed as a filling station. In the 1970's the gasoline station was closed and the property was utilized for food service and commercial purposes. The property has been vacant since the late 1990's. The listed property owner abandoned the property and has not paid real property taxes in several years. Niagara County is in the process of completing tax foreclosure that will allow the property to be made available for redevelopment.
