Anchor Glass, Ohis Avenue (DEC DoR# 33-705).Some of the glass frit was disposed on site in a delineated subsurface excavation which was capped with soil. This footprint will not be buildable for structures but it is in an out of the way corner near a rail line and does not limit the redevelopment of the site. Institutional controls identify this on-site disposal location. In addition Land Use Restrictions have been instituted. These restrictions require that prior to any part of the property being used for a residence, domicile, daycare, school, or church with an outdoor playground, or prior to any invasive activity TDEC DoR must be notified and grant approval. Any approval granted must be be recorded with the Hamilton County Register of Deeds.

Based on the remedial work conducted at this site, and the Notice of the Deed, DoR has made a determination of no additional action for this site. Anchor Glass, Ohis Avenue (DEC DoR# 33-705). This site was cleared of scrub surface vegetation then identified spots of co-mingled foundry sand contaminated soils were removed to an approved disposal site. The primary site contaminant consisted of glass frit which covered the majority of the 8.2 acre site. Former Use: The site is 8.2 acres on the east and west sides o Ohls Ave between W 38th and W 42nd Sts.in the Alton Park Neighborhood of Chattanooga, TN. The site has contained small foundries until sometime between 1930 and 1950. The site has hosted a couple of tire repair facilities and was later used as a disposal site for broken glass from the former Chattanooga Glass Company which made glass drink containers from the late 1800s until the late 1900s. The site is currently owned by the City of Chattanooga having acquired it with a quitclaim deed from Anchor Glass Corportation for 1 ib March 16, 2001.
