Please note that the Environmental Professional Certification referenced above only certifies that the grant period ended on September 30, 2019, with additional cleanup activities required. The Cleanup Activity Completion Date listed above reflects only the end date of the EPA Cleanup Grant, per the instructions of the EPA Grant Administrator. Additional cleanup is warranted, as documented in the reports and draft Brownfield Agreement that will be provided to potential purchasers through the City of Knoxville Purchasing Department. As documented in the referenced reports available from the City, completion of vapor mitigation system will be required for future occupancy, and the lead-based paint issue must also be addressed.

Additional Property Attributes

Cleanup Grant Public Meeting Held June 2017; Generic Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) issued August 28, 2017; Site Specific QAPP (SSQAPP) issued February 14, 2018; Site Update Public Meeting Held March 19, 2018. ACM was abated from the building in December 2017. In January 2018, 21.26 tons of solid waste was removed from the building and processed through the City's waste disposal program. In January 2018, VOC impacted soil excavated by roofers was collected in three 55-gallon drums and properly disposed. In August 2019, sub-slab vapor mitigation system was installed (16 suction points and risers). Remainder of system will need to be evaluated and installed once the use of the building is determined.

Former Use: Property operated as a laundry and dry cleaning facility from 1926-1993.
