Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Property is an inactive football stadium and school bus maintenance garage. These were also the primary historical uses. Purpose of activity is to update the previous Phase I ESA finalized in 2013 and confirm that subsequent activities on-site have not led to any contamination to the subject property. The Phase I ESA completed in September 2013 identified potential impacts from possible petroleum releases from former USTs and the potential presence of lead-based paint (LBP) and asbestos containing materials (ACM). A Phase II ESA completed in July 2017 confirmed petroleum releases and removed/closed two 10,000-gallon USTs on-site. The Phase II ESA also included ACM and LBP surveys. The previous owner, the Business Development Corporation completed a US EPA Cleanup Grant March 2018 to abate the LBP and ACM on the 8.7-acre site. The subject property is a subset of a larger 8.7-acre former site of the Jimmy Carey Stadium in Weirton, WV. The subset is an approximate 2.15-acre that consists of the former asphalt and gravel parking area. The Business Development Corporation acquired the 8.7-acre property July 2014. The Altair Development Group LLC recently purchased the 8.7-acre site April 2021 and plans to sell the 2.15-acre subset for Senior Housing. Housing project did not move forward.
